IDE Hard Disk Drive

IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) was developed so that the utilization of the hard disk drives in the computer systems could be standardized. The basic and main idea of the IDE technology is the combination of controller and the hard disk drive. Controller comprises of small circuit board and the guidance to perform the data access, data storage and other hard disk drive operations are provided by the chips located on the board. Memory is also included in most of the controllers. The performance of the IDE hard disc drive is boosted as the memory included in the controllers acts like buffers.
